ACTO ACADÉMICO DE DESPEDIDA

7th.Form: EVERY CHILD HAS RIGHTS

Rights are what you should have or be able to

do to have the best start in life. These rights

are listed in the UN Convention on the Rights

of the Child. All rights are equally important

and are connected to each other. You are born

with these rights, and no one can take them

away. Many adults are responsible to help

protect your rights and do what is best for

you. As you grow, you have more

responsibility to make choices and exercise

your rights. You can also respect the rights of

others and help children around the world

through  different organizations .

Governments have the main responsibility to

make sure the rights of children in the

Convention on the Rights of the Child are

protected and provided for. All citizens have              responsibilities to respect the rights of

children as well. Children can show their

respect for the rights of others in different

ways. For example, children can:

• Respect others’ right to education by

helping them learn

• Respect others’ right to protection from

harm by being kind and stopping bullying   

• Respect others’ right to share their views

by asking what they think or want to do.

A convention is an agreement between

countries to obey the same laws. Argentina

agreed to obey (ratified) the Convention on

the Rights of the Child in 1990. Doing so, it

made a promise to make sure all children in                   

Argentina  get their rights met.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child

has 54 parts, called articles.

In our country,  the long awaited national Law for the Integral Protection of Children and Adolescents was enacted in 2005 to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by Argentina in 1990.  In addition to adopting comprehensive protective measures for children, it lays the groundwork for a juvenile justice system, calls for institutionalized children to be integrated back into society, and establishes mechanisms to protect children from abuse and exploitation.

Armamos cuerpos geométricos

Con palitos de brochette (aristas) y esferas de plastilina (vértices) armamos un montón de cuerpos geométricos: Cubos, prismas y pirámides.

Fue una actividad súper divertida y aprendimos un montón.

¡No se imaginan lo difícil que fue armar el cubo!!!

¡¡¡SE PRECISÓ MUCHO TRABAJO EN EQUIPO!!!

SCARY STORIES

 6th form students have written very interesting and scary stories. They have designed attractive and colourful covers to attract the readers´ attention. The stories are being exhibited in our playground for curious readers to have a look. Don´t miss them!

¡Cuidemos nuestro cuerpo!

Luego de aprender sobre los diferentes sistemas del cuerpo humano comenzamos a pensar en diferentes formas de cuidar nuestro cuerpo. Por ello armamos láminas sobre diferentes hábitos y prácticas saludables que mejoren nuestro bienestar. También, en contraposición, marcamos hábitos  no saludables. Las láminas quedaron excelentes, pero lo más importante es todo lo que aprendimos y el trabajo en equipo.

2° Grado celebró el Día de la Tradición

Se considera tradición a un conjunto de costumbres, valores y creencias compartidas por una sociedad. Es la tradición, transmitida de generación a generación lo que con el tiempo, crea la identidad de una comunidad. 

El 10 de noviembre festejamos el día de la Tradición. Un día que tiene que ver con la construcción nuestra identidad como país; identidad que se compone por símbolos culturales, que fueron fijados hace mucho tiempo como la figura del gaucho, su vestimenta, su comida, su música.

1° Grado celebró el Día de la Tradición

Familias: el 22 de septiembre 5to grado fue a ver la obra "Mataburros" en el Teatro la Galera. Esta obra cuenta Una experiencia en la que tres licenciados tratan de demostrar la mala utilización del lenguaje utilizando a un ciudadano común como eje de la propuesta.

Por lo tanto se relfexiona sobre Las variedades que puede ofrecer la lengua y lo escaso del vocabulario que utilizamos a diario.

OPEN CLASS

4th FORM:

On October 31st parents were invited to an open class to see how students work. That day different activities were shown.

Students had made beautiful animal puppets. They had to ask and answer questions about the different animals, their habitats, routines, abilities and physical appearance in order to guess the name of the animal.

Then they passed on a little bag with cards in it as music was played. When the music stopped, the student with the bag in his/her hand had to take a card from it and make a sentence with the word written on it. In this way, they practiced vocabulary learnt throughout the year.

After that, they worked with the verbs of the senses. A student came to the front and he/she was blindfolded. So, without being able to see what he was offered, he/she had to guess how the object felt, sounded, tasted or smelt.

Finally, the students sang a song at the end of the open class.

Students showed great interest and enthusiasm during the open class. They really enjoyed every activity!

SPECIAL CLASS

Last week, 5th form had an open class.  First of all, the class was divided into two groups to play TIC-TAC-TOE. During this game, they had to answer questions about “The Olympic Promise”, the story they have been reading during this term. After that, both groups had to make questions in order to find out the name of a famous character. Finally, they took part in a role-play related to the story. The parents and the children have enjoyed the activities and spent a good time together. Congratulations to all the students who took part in the activities and thank you to all the parents who shared that special moment with their children!

ART PROJECT

In 3^rd Form we have been working on the Simple Present Tense as the main grammar theme for this stage. Furthermore, we have finished with Unit 7 “Favourite Food” from Backpack Gold 2. In this unit, the students have had as main objective the identification and description of the food they like and the ones they don’t like. Following this topic the pupils have done different tasks, such as speaking about food, playing games and working on Art Projects. As we can see on the photos below, the students are showing their work to the class and interacting with their classmates. This application gives them the opportunity to practise different skills and enjoy learning English!!

CONSTRUYAMOS EL HÁBITO DE LECTURA...

Formar niñas y niños lectores, es un desafío que sí se puede lograr si los maestros enfrentamos el reto de convertirnos en lectores junto con nuestros alumnos. Para ello, es necesario diseñar en la escuela un Plan lector con propósitos, metas y estrategias definidos. Esta difícil, pero no imposible tarea, es indispensable empezarla hoy, saboreando el placer de leer un texto de nuestra preferencia.

¡Conocemos el mundo! ¡Conocemos nuestro cuerpo!

Los chicos y las chicas de 3º Grado aprendimos que para conocer el mundo que nos rodea antes tenemos que conocer nuestro cuerpo. Todo lo que percibimos lo hacemos a través de los sentidos.

¡Así que manos a la obra!!! Comenzamos a investigar sobre los cinco sentidos. Primero vimos videos con muchos datos interesantes, también trajimos información de casa para compartir con mis compañeros, y por último realizamos afiches para plasmar lo aprendido.

Como siempre reinó el respeto por la opinión del otro y la tolerancia cuando nos costaba ponernos de acuerdo.

Los resultados están a la vista: los afiches quedaron hermosos y muy interesantes.

¡Tercer grado cada día está más grande!

FELIZ DÍA DE LA FAMILIA

PUPPETS

2nd form has made some extra work with pictures and puppets using cut-outs from their text books. 

These pictures are used to revise Family Members and Cardinal Numbers and by using puppets the students can describe clothes, practise colours, revise parts of the body and make sentences in the Present Continuous Tense using the verb To Wear. 

They have had lots of fun doing this Project!!!

Feria del Libro en la Escuela

La lectura es la puerta a un mundo de aventuras y conocimiento.

Queridas familias:

Llega a nuestro colegio la Feria del Libro 2014, organizada por “Tierra de libros”. La misma se realizará del 14 al 17 de octubre en el horario de 8:30 a 17:30 hs. para los tres niveles: inicial, primaria y secundaria.

Durante esos días los padres y alumnos podrán recorrer los stands de las diferentes editoriales y comprar sus libros favoritos (se aceptan tarjetas de débito, crédito y efectivo).

Además habrá muchas novedades y sorpresas, lecturas al aire libre, narraciones y visitas muy esperadas.

La Feria del Libro se está transformando en un clásico de nuestra Institución, en el afán por incluir a nuestros alumnos en el maravilloso mundo de la lectura.

¿A que edad conviene que los chicos empiecen a usar pantallas?

La decisión depende de cada familia, pero "la regla del 3, 6, 9 y 12" ayuda a pensar el tema.

GOING TO THE THEATRE

"Last Wednesday, October 1st, 7th and 6 th Form went to see the play "The Tower" 

by the Art Spots Company. It was really interesting as it had a lot of songs, new 

vocabulary and a lot of special effects! They had a lot of fun!"
