Writing in the classroom

During the English classes, it’s important to help students to become aware of how different aspects of oral and written discourse work. With regard to the written production, the students should be given the chance to produce their own texts. This practice (in fifth form) requires an appropriate guide from the teacher who can present the students some texts as models to imitate, for example.
When the students make short descriptions and narrations, they can perceive more clearly the communicative purpose of the foreign language they are learning. Another important aspect is to put into practice what is being learnt during the classes (in terms of rules and language components) so that the students can take risks and experiment with the Language.
During this year, students from 5th form have written different descriptions about their own routines, different characters, the school, etc. To complete such tasks, they have used the vocabulary learned throughout the year as well as the different tenses they have learned so far with their corresponding adverbial phrases.

7th. form visited Malba museum

JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES

Since the return from winter holidays, we have been working on the Simple Present Tense as the main grammar theme for this stage in 3rd Form. Furthermore, we have finished with Unit 5 “My Busy Family” from Backpack Gold 2. In this unit, the students have had as main objectives the identification of occupations and professions, places people work, and the activities they do. Following these topics the pupils have done different tasks, such as speaking about jobs, describing them, doing written work, and playing games. Moreover, they have worked on art projects, including posters of people’s jobs and finger puppets that characterize occupations. As we can see on the photos below, the students have played different roles showing their puppets to the class and interacting with their classmates. This application gives them the opportunity to practise speaking, have fun, and enjoy learning English!!!

ART PROJECT

2nd form has finished units 3 and 4 ,"Heads and toes" and "Things I wear"  and  the children have worked on an art project "Mobiles" using the cut-outs on their student's books and different materials such as string, markers and pieces of cloth. These mobiles are used to describe clothes, practise colours and use the present form of the verb " to wear" and "have got". These grammar structures were learnt on the above mentioned units.
Pupils show their puppets to the rest of the class describing them orally and afterwards they write some sentences using all the new vocabulary in their copybooks.

This sort of activity makes pupils learn, perform and enjoy themselves together in a funny way and it is important for us to see them having a good time while learning this second language.

SING ALONG WITH FIRST FORM

“Singing is a vital element in our teaching learning process. Through songs, our younger learners incorporate vocabulary and structures. They can learn about the different moments of our school routines, and at the same time have TONS OF FUN! Both children and teachers enjoy singing a lot, and that´s why we wanted to share some of our songs with you! Hope you like them!”
