During the English classes, it’s important to help students to become aware of how different aspects of oral and written discourse work. With regard to the written production, the students should be given the chance to produce their own texts. This practice (in fifth form) requires an appropriate guide from the teacher who can present the students some texts as models to imitate, for example.
When the students make short descriptions and narrations, they can perceive more clearly the communicative purpose of the foreign language they are learning. Another important aspect is to put into practice what is being learnt during the classes (in terms of rules and language components) so that the students can take risks and experiment with the Language.
During this year, students from 5th form have written different descriptions about their own routines, different characters, the school, etc. To complete such tasks, they have used the vocabulary learned throughout the year as well as the different tenses they have learned so far with their corresponding adverbial phrases.
